SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
To the Membership of American Legion Post 320 Spotsylvania, VA
This letter is to notify you about the pending increase in the Post 320 Annual Dues
that will take effect on 1 July 2024.
At present, the Post Annual Membership dues is $40.00 per year. From this
amount, National Headquarters as well as Department Headquarters receive
$29.00 of the $40.00, leaving the Post with an amount of $11.00 per membership.
At the Executive Board Meeting held on Tuesday, 28 November 2023 discussion
was raised concerning the increase in the amount that National Headquarters will
be taking from the Post’s Annual dues amount of $40.00. National Headquarters
has announced that effective 1 July 2024, they will increase the amount they take
from each Post membership by an additional $5.00.
At this time, Department Headquarters has not announced that they will increase
the amount they take from the $40.00 annual dues, however it is anticipated that
they will also increase the amount they receive. It was noted that the last time
Department increased the amount they took from Post membership dues, it
amounted to no more than $2.00 per membership.
The Executive Board voted on an increase of $7.00 per year, which will raise the
Post membership dues from $40.00 to $47.00 effective 1 July 2024. This amount
will cover the increase of $5.00 to National Headquarters and also cover the
anticipated increase of $2.00 to Department. This price increase will allow the
Post to retain the $11.00 per membership it already receives from each new
membership/renewal.
Per Legion ByLaws and Legion regulations, it is required that this increase in
Annual Dues notice be published to all Post members prior to being voted on by
Post membership. The price increase will be voted on at the next regular
scheduled Monthly Membership Meeting on Tuesday, 2 January 2024.
